Musing Egon Schiele in the sketchbook.
Reading about the influenza deaths this past year, my heart goes out to those who lost family members or friends. Today, I brought the flu virus into my sketchbook thanks to a recent dream of Edith and Egon Schiele, two lovers who perished just days apart in the 1918 spanish flu epidemic. As an artist, Schiele's lines and contours bear no equal. His early death robbed the world of the way he may yet have rendered it.
Edith died on October 28th. Egon followed her to the grave on October 31st.
Plan for the evening: To convince the King to play Edith and Egon as a tribute on All Hallow's Eve next year.
